In this ongoing Reading Comprehension class, learners will read both fiction and non-fiction high-interest texts. Learners will learn various reading strategies like(Story Elements, Sequencing, Main Idea, Retell, Key Words, Inferring, Predicting, Ask Questions, Visualize, etc.) and use them to complete a variety of comprehension activities. Teacher support will be given to read texts, but learners should be at mid-kindergarten-first grade reading level. The texts will be teacher written. Each of the classes is a stand-alone lesson and students may join or leave the class at any time.
Each class will follow the following format:
1. Greetings.
2. Read Text(students will read aloud if they wish).
3. Comprehension Activities(This will be a combination of teacher modelling and student practice).
4. Review of strategy or strategies.
5. Goodbyes.
*This class will continue for the school year.
