In this interactive science course, appropriate for Grades 1-3, students become thoughtful scientists as they explore the origins and workings of the universe. Through interactive slideshows, videos, books, and simple experiments, students learn how the Big Bang led to the creation of our planet Earth. In this class, students take a closer look at the origins of our planet, as well as what our Earth is made of. Throughout the class we try to answer the question, "What makes the Earth...
By the end of this class, students will understand the following: -Earth's layers -Rock cycle -3 different types of rocks, and how they are formed -Water cycle -Types of clouds -Weather phenomena, like thunderstorms, hurricanes, and tornadoes
I am a state-certified elementary teacher (K-6), and have been teaching science to young children for over 20 years.
Supplies for the experiments and activities include many common household items like those listed below. I will provide a PDF of science journal pages and detailed supply and book lists after enrollment. -office supplies like paper, pencil, ruler, posterboard, stapler, tape, etc. -playdough -variety of rocks -flour -sugar -plastic cups -empty water or soda bottle with lid -string or yarn -large 2-liter bottle (x2) -glitter -mini marshmallows Some items you may need to purchase, find, or borrow: -books listed in the description -fabric glue -instant pudding -Skittles or Starburst candy -slinky
