課堂經歷
Every week, we will have a photo of a person to base our drawings on. We will discuss anatomy as it relates to the pose of the person in the photo (bones, joints, muscles), as well as balance, foreshortening, and proportions, as applicable. Every few weeks we will concentrate on a specific part of the body (hands, feet, facial features), simplifying them into basic forms. Other weeks we will work on poses that involve the entire body. We will also do quick gesture drawings to practice observing movement. Practice makes perfect, so the more time each student spends practicing regularly, the easier it will be for them to draw people from observation and from memory. Students will interact with each other and the teacher by showing their work in progress throughout the class to receive feedback. Students may provide feedback to each other, in a kind and respectful manner. Students will not be "copying" a drawing done by the teacher, instead, after a quick demo, students will be working on their drawings independently to practice their own observation skills. We will solve problems together as they come up. Friendly conversation during class, and sharing both challenges and successes in our work, are always encouraged. #creative This class meets weekly on a regular basis. Parents can enroll and withdraw their learners at any point and are charged weekly like a subscription. New learners can join this club at any time. My background includes professional illustration, printmaking, and an MA in Art History, but after many years of various jobs in the art world, I found that the best use of my knowledge and talent is teaching art to children. For the past 15 years, I have been a teaching artist at multiple programs and venues. Finally, five years ago I opened my own art studio for children, Canvas and Crayon. My curriculum, developed through many years of work, is a unique blend of teaching both technique and self-expression. I believe in providing my young students with all the knowledge they need to express their own ideas. Every year my students bring me joy and satisfaction as they grow and their skills develop. I also treasure the development of community as students work alongside one another and get to meet peers with similar interests and talents.
