課堂經歷
In the words of former Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith, “Poetry is quiet, private, meditative, and rather than summing things up in pat and predictable ways, it surprises and deepens our sense of the ordinary. Poetry tells us that the world is full of wonder, revelation, consolation, and meaning. It reminds us that our inner lives deserve time, space, and attention.” The goal is not for learners to create publishable or performance-ready poetry, rather that they will consider how poetry can serve as a powerful means of creative expression that can captivate an audience and inspire change. Poetry can help learners explore and connect with issues of identity and belonging, prejudice, and social justice, as well as provide inspiration for how they might use their voice to tell their own stories in unique and powerful ways. Ultimately, taking to heart poet Amanda Gorman’s words: that poetry “is the language of people,” a language learners can use to raise their voices to tell their own stories and to make themselves heard on issues that matter to them.
學習目標
Value the complexity of identity in themselves and others.
Engage with real and imagined stories that help them understand their own coming-of-age experiences and how others experience the world.

Important Schedule Update
Dear Outschool Families,
I want to inform you about a temporary modification to my teaching schedule. Due to health considerations, I will be adjusting my availability to EST morning hours only. This change will enable me to continue providing the highest quality instruction while managing my health effectively.
I have found that my energy and focus are at their peak during morning hours, allowing me to deliver the engaging and effective instruction that your children deserve. While I anticipate this schedule modification to be temporary, I believe in being transparent to allow for appropriate planning.
As your child's education is my top priority, I understand that this schedule change may require some families to seek alternative arrangements. Outschool has many talented educators who may be able to accommodate students needing different time slots. I am happy to assist in ensuring a smooth transition for any affected students.
Commitment to Excellence
I remain deeply committed to providing excellent educational experiences and building a supportive learning environment. My goal as an Outschool teacher continues to be providing high-quality, personalized instruction in both one-on-one and small group settings.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I look forward to continuing our educational journey together.
Warmly,
Teacher Erica 🍎
