課堂經歷
In this class, students will participate in a guided discussion that explores and discusses sports card collecting. The students will analyze how the hobby has transitioned over the years; from the days of tobacco cards to bubble gum cards to present day memorabilia cards. We will examine various types of cards (rookie, autograph, holographic) and discuss their value in relation to investment potential versus collecting. This class will be an in-depth examination of sports cards. The students will be providing opinions, feedback on value of cards, and using critical thought to analyze investment potential. Through higher levels of thinking via cause and effect, discussion; coupled with original and creative thinking, the students will meet academic standards while sharing a personal hobby.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and I'm currently working on my Master’s degree. I also have a personal collection of sports cards that total just under a quarter of a million cards.
The student will NOT be assigned a document to read prior to class. (I will encourage the students to share their personal collections of cards if they have them - if they don't have sports cards then they are welcome to purchase some packs at a local store and open them in front of everybody.)
There will be no sensitive material.
The student will be provided with a source document that they will need to read prior to the beginning of class; otherwise, there is no other source material needed for this course.
