Students will need to choose their recipe and decide on class prep. Remember you will only have about 40 minutes to finish your recipe before showing the class. Depending on the recipe, you may need to take steps before class. For instance, if your recipe requires proofing or extended time to bake. Look at skills building exercise if given ahead of time. Clean your workspace Gather Ingredients Mise en Place (prepare tools and ingredients) Read Recipe Before Class Start baking before class if time requires, all decoration should be performed in class.評估
Students will not be assessed in the class; however, I am happy to give reports for schools that are using this as an elective. Parents can contact me at any time.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。
課堂經歷
Please note that this is for the Pre-teen Section. There is a separate section available for teens. Recently after the success of our Outschool group, I decided to turn our bake-off group into ongoing and multiple day classes. This class is the ongoing section. Each week we bring one recipe to finish in class based on the theme of the week. Teacher will provide a basic recipe for students for each week that can be used. As a group, we will vote on two winners. One for most creative recipe, the other for Star Baker. Students that win will receive certificates each week and on occasion we will have grand prizes for money towards future Outschool classes. For this course students need: Access to Baking Ingredients & Kitchenware Access to an Oven & Fridge Access to a Clean Work Surface At the beginning of class, we will work on our skills building activity. Teacher may provide link before class for students to work on skill with weekly recipe. For example, in Class one, we will look at Knife Sharpening techniques and Chopping Techniques. A Nearpod will be posted before class begins and then discussed as we create our weekly masterpiece. Students will be given 40 minutes to finish their recipes and then we will begin judging. Time management will be essential for the class, but it is also all about having fun. If the recipes don't turn out perfect, no worries, it is all a learning process, and we are all learning from each other. Parental/Adult guidance is suggested during this course, based on the individual needs of your learner and their skill. I know many students are capable of completing their own recipes, but at the same time there are safety risks that go with most kitchen items. Some recipes will require the handling of a knife for chopping as well. If safety is a concern with a recipe, an adult can prep the recipe ahead of time and have the student focus on decorations only during the class. Parents are also welcomed to bake with their learners but I ask them to stay off camera as much as possible per Outschool policy. If you are using cooking equipment keep in mind many have risks built in.
Note: Recipe should be read fully before class. There is often prep work on the day of class, and I like the students to mise En place (get their tools and ingredients together) at least an hour ahead of class.
Warning: Please review each recipe in detail. Possible allergens include: milk, nuts, wheat, dairy, eggs, or soy. Alternative recipes or ideas can be provided if you contact the instructor ahead of time. Please give at least three days notice. You can also tailor your recipe to your own tastes.

My teaching experience is varied. I grew up with a family that ran two restaurants and have attended cooking classes all over the world. I have worked with many champion chefs that I will give credit to at the end of our class. Food preparation just is part of my identity; it is something I love. I am also a Ppofessor, attorney and mother of seven. I have taught everything from pre-k to Graduate School and have both homeschooled/unschooled and chosen traditional routes for my children. I have decided to teach this class simply for my love of cooking, family meals, and to share something I am passionate about.
