This social studies class covers the time before the California Gold Rush through the 1850s. We will cover the San Francisco boom and the effects of the Gold Rush on the area, environment, and its people. 

The class is structured with student interaction using Peardeck, Padlet Sandbox, and class discussions. Short videos are shown to enhance learning and differentiate content for students with learning differences.

I love leading the class in group discussions and encouraging collaborative and deep thinking. I like teaching 21st-century four C skills in my classes: collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication. My class has a combination of any or all of these skills.

The class is paced to be accessible for all learners, including neurodiverse learners and twice exceptional. No prior knowledge is necessary for this class.
Students who enroll late to the class will be brought up to speed either in their first class or during additional office hours. I also will have all students reintroduce themselves when new students join. It always helps the entire group to reintroduce and have some fun at the beginning of the class.
