Welcome to the ArKIDecture Academy! I am very excited to announce a new series coming to my class list: 'Houses in History' Welcome to 'Philip Johnson's Glass House'! In this one time class, we will discuss the architect Philip Johnson, his theories and design techniques, and, of course, the house and property known as 'The Glass House'. Discussion and Discovery As a class we will discuss facts and information about both the architect and the house. Drawings As a class we will draw...
Students will learn about the architect, Philip Johnson, and specifically his work on 'The Glass House'. They will also learn the basics of architectural drawing by hand. They will leave class with an elevation and section drawing of the house.
I am a practicing architectural designer in the world of residential design. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Design and a Master's Degree in Architecture. I have been sharing my passion of architecture through architectural camps and classes for children since 1999.
Students should bring the following supplies to class: 3 sheets of plain white 8 1/2 x 11 paper 1 ruler Pencil and Eraser Markers (no Sharpies please), crayons, or colored pencils
Students will be using glue, scissors, markers, and other crafting tools in this class. Parental guidance is suggested for safety of the student.
