This class is for students in grades 2-4 who can write at least a few sentences on their own. It's great for younger students who have a passion for writing, but don't yet have the skills to get all their words on paper, or for older reluctant writers. Upon completion of the first semester of this class students should be more comfortable writing longer stories. They will learn things like: -how to get thoughts onto paper -elements of a story -efficiency with conventional spelling & mechanics of writing
I am a Colorado-certified teacher who has been teaching students in grades K-8 for over 20 years. I have taught in a variety of setting, including public schools, homeschool environments, as well as alternative education venues. I have been engaging students on Outschool for over 2 years.

Students will need a writing journal. At this level, students may use a primary writing journal like in the link below or a regular spiral-bound notebook or composition book. If your student has trouble forming letters or keeping them on the lines, the primary journal would be a better choice.
