During this one hour class, we will begin with a mini-lesson (no longer than 10 minutes) discussing the benefits of the "close reading" process. After discussing the importance of reading a text more than once, we will read an article from the teen vogue aloud together. The teacher will begin the reading aloud portion of the class, but students will be invited to read aloud IF they feel comfortable reading in a group setting. After reading together, each student will re-read the article on their own looking for at least one detail from each paragraph that connects to the title or main idea of the article.  After reading the article twice,  we will discuss using the R.A.C.E strategy to answer a short answer question. 

My teaching style is structured and interactive. In general, my classes have a rhythm that flows between teacher and student voice and capitalizes on a rich history of learning through dialogue.
