課堂經歷
Tagalog for Littles 4 (TFL4) is a comprehensive review of the lessons from TFL 1-3. The course will focus on practical application using the knowledge of vocabulary words, phrases, sentences and questions gained from Tagalog for Littles 1-3. The objective of this module is not only for the learners to use what they learned in previous lessons using short (but complete) sentences in Tagalog but for them to know HOW and WHEN to use what they already know, but are uncomfortable or uncertain when to use them. They will also be challenged to practice asking questions in Tagalog and have their peers answer in Tagalog as well. As always, the goal is make them comfortable and confident in their skills. If your learner knows how to ask their friends in class, "Kamusta ka ______ ?" and be able to answer themselves, this is a great indicator that they are ready for a cumulative review. They are growing confidence in their Tagalog skills. If they are using their some of Tagalog vocabulary (words that they’ve learned in class) randomly at home, GREAT! It shows they are retaining the information. This is the ultimate goal of all the Tagalog for Littles courses. TFL 4 was created so that learners do not forget what they already know and can begin to practice using their knowledge in daily life. Language acquisition happens when it is heard and reinforced continuously. In TFL 4, I ask for each learner to compile all their previous worksheets. If they have been misplaced, I will provide them with the necessary worksheets. Worksheets are not the focus in this course, they will merely serve as a guide. Classes are focused more on: 1) LISTENING COMPREHENSION - being able to answer questions in Tagalog or being able to follow instructions in Tagalog 2) SPEAKING - being able to communicate in Tagalog, even in short sentences Understanding simple Tagalog questions and instructions is important so that each learner gains comfort and confidence in the Tagalog language skills to use in daily speech and communication. Below is the breakdown of the class curriculum and schedule: Week 1: Ano Ang Kulay ng Mansanas? (What Color is the Apple?); Ilan Ito? (How Many Are These?) Week 2: Nasaan ang Ilong Mo? (Where is Your Nose?); Sino Siya (Who is That?) Week 3: Ano Ang Laman ng Bag Mo? (What's Inside Your Bag?); Gusto mo ng Saging? (Do You Like Bananas?) Week 4: Saan Masakit? (What Hurts?); Kamusta Ka? (How Are You?) Week 5: Mayroon Ba Tayong Kalabasa? (Do We Have Pumpkins?); Nasaan Ka? (Where Are You?) Week 6: Ano Ito? (What is This?); Anong Hugis ang Buwan? (What Shape is the Moon?)

Hi everyone! I’m Toni and I am a homeschooling mom. I have taught my kids, now 11 and 9, all core subjects. I am also a TESOL certified ESL teacher. I have taught almost 4,000 online classes in a span of two years. It's so heartwarming and humbling to know that I have educated over 13,000 Chinese students to date. I am excited to reach more students and teach what I love on the Outschool platform.
I also host educational live shows on another Chinese platform that can be viewed by hundreds of students all over China at one time. I teach anything that can help build their vocabulary and fluency such as: the seasons, weather, holidays & festivals, health & hygiene, parts of the house and even fun events in Texas.
I love bringing my lessons and classes to life. I truly believe that teaching is 1/4 preparation and 3/4 theatrics.
I have a BA in International Studies. My first job was at the United Nations headquarters in New York but I was always drawn to the hospitality industry. After a year at the UN, I switched careers and started my first hotel job at the iconic and landmark hotel, the Waldorf=Astoria, New York. 9 years later, I found myself at another luxury and historic property, this time in Canada, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. I started planning high-end meetings, conferences, parties and weddings.
It is this background of many years that has shaped my work ethic today. Working in the luxury sector requires you to always impress guests by going above and beyond their expectations. It is a hard habit to break. I have consciously or subconsciously applied this my teaching style. When I design lessons, I aim to bring a wow-factor for my students so that they are left with not just learning the information but having a memorable experience that will last way past the lesson.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy pursuing other interests like baking, antiquing, thrifting and dancing. I love baking treats with my kids and making more than plenty to give to neighbors and friends with pretty handmade packaging. I am a huge fan of flea markets and thrift stores. I enjoy the thrill of the find and being creative in repurposing and upcycling furniture. I am in love with Latin dance music. I learned how to dance the salsa when I lived in New York. I attended hundreds of social dance events in the city and even traveled to Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Miami for International Latin Dance conferences and workshops.
These days however, as a busy work from home mom, we are happy to ask Alexa play us some tunes and dance in the living room and kitchen.
