This 9 day, Multi-Day class is divided into three lessons of three key topics which cover Superpower relations during the fifty-year period (1941-91) known as the Cold War. In this class students will share their insights based upon their understanding of the time period, the issues, and the scholarly analysis presented. Student and teacher will work on practice document-based questions which will include political cartoons, quotations, photos and other relevant evidence from this time period. A number of independent practice activities are provided for the student to work on in their own time at their own pace. Please refer to the attached SOW (Scheme of Work) for more specific details about each section of this class.

Key topic 1: The origins of the Cold War, 1941–58

1 Early tension between East and West
2 The development of the Cold War
3 The Cold War intensifies

Key topic 2: Cold War crises, 1958–70

1 Increased tension between East and West
2 Cold War crises
3 Reaction to crisis

Key topic 3: The end of the Cold War, 1970–91

1 Attempts to reduce tension between East and West
2 Flashpoints
3 The collapse of Soviet control of Eastern Europe

This is a very important class for students entering high school/secondary school and especially relevant for U.K. students who will be entering or are already preparing for GCSEs and/or A-Level History.
