Although I will follow a Kindergarten scope and sequence of foundational reading skills, I will review previous skills every session so your student can join in at any time! *Learners will be able to hear and make rhymes. *Learners will be able to recognize and generate words that have the same beginning sound. *Learners will be able to hear and segment words in a sentence. *Learners will be able to hear and segment syllables in a word. *Learners will be able to hear and segment sounds in a word. *Learners will be able to blend syllables in a word. *Learners will be able to blend individual sounds in a word. *Learners will know the letters and sounds of the alphabet. *Learners will be able to build and read simple VC(Vowel-Consonant) and CV(Consonant Vowel Words) *Learners will be able to build and read simple short vowel CVC Words (consonant-vowel-consonant) *Learners will be able to build and read simple short vowel digraph (th/sh/wh/ch/ck/ng) words *Learners will be able to write and read kindergarten level sight words. *Learners will be able to read grade level appropriate texts
I have been an elementary teacher for 25 years. I have taught all subjects in both 2nd and 3rd Grade and spent 10 years as a Reading Specialist for Grades K-3. I currently have my own online teaching business where I focus on 1:1 and small group classes to help learners strengthen their foundational reading skills and their love for learning!!
