作業
每週 2-4 小時. Students are expected to read the assigned chapters before the meeting time. The first meeting will discuss chapters 1-6, so the student is expected to come to class having completed these chapters. Students will be provided with a reading guide for each section of the class. It is encouraged that students complete it so that they can think about the concepts they're learning and organize their learning, as well as record the questions they have. Depending upon reading speed, this may take more or less time than 2-4 hours per week. Student notes will not be checked, but students are expected to bring their notes with questions to the class to discuss. Students and parents should consider the reading load before registering to decide if enrollment is a good idea for them.

Students in this class will read the book outside of class and complete a reading guide that I provide. We will meet every week to discuss a section of the book. We will discuss psychology and different research findings in psychology, especially those related to cognition (thought) and social psychology (how humans interact). The class is structured so that students read 1/5 of the book before each meeting so that they are ready to discuss. I will teach by providing discussion questions but also asking students to bring their own discussion questions to the meeting. I will review vocabulary from the chapters with them as these are the terms used by professionals in the field of psychology. My teaching style focuses on understanding new knowledge and being able to apply it to situations, so students will be asked to come up with examples of what we're learning. There will be discussion, games, and quizzes to review the content each week. Students and parents should consider the reading load before registering to decide if enrollment is a good idea for them.
