Welcome to Camp! This class will meet live 3 times for 30 minutes each. These will be times to meet with everyone and discuss the Percy Jackson books, Greek and Roman mythology, and other fun summer activities. There are five required activities- enough for five days of fun. There are also eight optional activities that will be available during the entire week the camp runs. Group Meeting One -ORIENTATION We will have a live class meeting to get to know everyone and learn about the different activities available around the camp. Activity One -DESIGN YOUR CABIN After orientation, campers will take a quiz to determine their godly ancestry. Next, all the campers will design their cabins. Campers may work independently or in groups. Activity Two -DESIGN YOUR RIDE Percy has Blackjack, Jason has Tempest, and Hazel has Arion. Campers can decide what mythical beast they'd like to have accompany them on their demigod journeys. Group Meeting Two - CABIN INSPECTIONS The Campers will report to a live meeting for cabin inspection! All campers will get a chance to share their cabin designs with the rest of the group. They'll also have a chance to talk about their "ride". Activity Three - COMPOSE A POEM WORTHY OF APOLLO The Campers will learn about different types of poetry may compose a limerick, haiku, or even a sonnet. Activity Four - DESIGN YOUR QUEST We will look at common quest elements and each Camper can create their own quest. Bonus points if you also create a vague and ominous prophecy from the oracle. Group Meeting Three - CAMPFIRE We will have one more live meeting to share what we have done. Activity Five - CAMP BEADS I will show everyone how to make paper beads and each camper can create the bead they think best sums up their summer. (or recreate one from the books) In addition to the daily activities, there will also be a discussion question posted in the section's classroom for each day. Each camper should participate in the discussions. Camp Half-Blood is full of things to do. The following optional activities will be available as prerecorded videos or links to instructions and can be completed on the camper's preferred schedule. Campers may pick and choose any or all of the optional activities. Optional Activities: THE DINING PAVILION- Making lunch for a busy demigod THE ARCHERY RANGE- Tiny Archery- Make your own bows and arrows APOLLO CABIN- Short story writing THE COMBAT ARENA- Fighting Fit- Strengthen your body with basic exercises. THE FORGE- Make your own practice sword ARTS AND CRAFTS- Make your own practice dummy BUNKER 9- Build the Argo II with Lego blocks ATHENA CABIN- Learn the Greek Alphabet
學習目標
This class is designed for students who have already read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Heroes of Olympus series. Lots of activities will be available, some optional and some required. The activities are designed to entertain kids, give them something to do, help keep their minds learning during the summer, and allow them a chance to interact and socialize with other kids close to their age with shared interests.

We will be discussing the characters and mythologies surrounding the Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Olympus books. These books include gods and goddesses and their infidelity. The fact may arise that most of the gods and goddesses are siblings as well as romantic partners. There will be discussions about weapons, fighting, and death in the context of the books, characters, and world.

In addition to a computer or phone with internet access to view classes and activities, students will need basic art supplies for the required activities. On the classroom page, I will have lists for supplies for each of the optional activities. These will include cooking and crafting supplies. Participation in these activities is not required and may be completed piece-meal.
