In this class students will be introduced to Joseph Campbell's famous "Hero's Journey" story structure. This universal story structure was derived from Campbell's studies of world literature, folk tales, and ancient epics and is still used in literature and film today. Using slides and a worksheet, I will lead the students through the structure illustrating them with Star Wars: A New Hope. I welcome student interaction—asking/answering questions and sharing thoughts. I will facilitate time...
Students will learn how to use "The Hero's Journey" to write or tell their own stories.
*A one-page handout will be provided. *Students may want to have note-taking materials ready if they desire to record the information.
We will refer to a "Hero's Journey" chart that I will provide at the beginning of class.
