課堂經歷

This class combines the wonder of storytelling with foundational math concepts. Each week, students will listen to a story where the characters face simple math problems. After the story, students will engage in activities to solve these problems using counting, addition, subtraction, and pattern recognition.

Week 1 : The Three Little Pigs and Counting Bricks

•	Story: "The Three Little Pigs"
•	Math Focus: Counting and Number Recognition
•	Activity: Students will help the pigs count how many bricks they need to build each house, reinforcing counting skills.

Week 2 : Goldilocks and the Three Bears: Sizes and Comparisons

•	Story: "Goldilocks and the Three Bears"
•	Math Focus: Size Comparison and Ordering
•	Activity: Students will compare the sizes of the bears’ belongings (e.g., bowls, chairs, beds) and order them from smallest to largest.

Week 3 : The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Simple Addition

•	Story: "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle
•	Math Focus: Simple Addition
•	Activity: Students will add up the different foods the caterpillar eats throughout the week, practicing addition with visual aids.

Week 4 : The Doorbell Rang and Sharing Equally

•	Story: "The Doorbell Rang" by Pat Hutchins
•	Math Focus: Division and Sharing
•	Activity: Students will help the characters share cookies equally as more friends arrive, introducing the concept of division and fair sharing.

Week 5 : One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and Counting by Twos

•	Story: "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" by Dr. Seuss
•	Math Focus: Counting by Twos
•	Activity: Students will count pairs of fish, practicing counting by twos in a fun and colorful way.

Week 6 : Ten Apples Up On Top and Simple Subtraction

•	Story: "Ten Apples Up On Top!" by Dr. Seuss
•	Math Focus: Simple Subtraction
•	Activity: Students will subtract apples as they fall from the characters’ heads, learning how subtraction works in a visual context.

Week 7 : Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons and Patterns

•	Story: "Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons" by Eric Litwin
•	Math Focus: Patterns and Sequences
•	Activity: Students will identify and create button patterns, helping Pete with his groovy buttons while learning about patterns.

Week 8: The Mitten and Ordering by Size

•	Story: "The Mitten" by Jan Brett
•	Math Focus: Ordering by Size
•	Activity: Students will order animals by size as they crawl into the mitten, reinforcing concepts of size and order.

學習目標

Connect Math Concepts to Stories: Students will learn to identify and connect mathematical concepts, such as counting, shapes, patterns, and measurement, within the context of engaging stories, making math more relatable and fun.
Enhance Number Sense: Through story-based activities, students will develop a strong number sense, including recognizing numbers, counting, and understanding basic operations like addition and subtraction.

Hi! I’m Tiffany, an enthusiastic learner and educator passionate about inspiring young minds—especially neurodivergent, gifted, and curious learners—to appreciate the beauty and potential of math, science and beyond. My teaching approach is flexible; I draw inspiration from diverse sources to craft dynamic, engaging lessons tailored to each student's unique needs.

As a self-taught individual in many areas fueled by my love for discovery, I believe learning is a journey rather than a destination. My academic background includes majors in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science and Foreign Languages. While my primary academic focus is in mathematics and computer science, I have studied physics extensively in both high school , college, and beyond through years of self study. I integrate physics concepts into my teaching, using an interdisciplinary approach that connects math, science, and real-world applications. My experience includes teaching physics-related topics such as astrophysics, space science, and engineering principles, with a focus on making these subjects engaging and accessible to diverse learners.

These fields have shaped my worldview and reinforced the belief that all subjects are intricately interconnected. Math, science, language, and art come together to narrate our world’s story—and I'm here to help students uncover those connections.

Math has always been my favorite subject due to its boundless possibilities—from nature to technology, music to design. For neurodivergent learners or those who may feel out of place in traditional settings, I strive to make math approachable by connecting it with real-life situations that resonate with their interests. This personalized approach nurtures curiosity while validating different learning styles.

In my classes—including small groups designed for individualized attention—I create a warm environment where every student’s voice matters. Whether we’re exploring math through everyday activities or diving into the wonders of science or history's richness or language's intricacies—I emphasize practical hands-on learning experiences alongside movement during lessons for an engaging atmosphere suited for diverse ways of thinking.

Challenges are part of any learning journey; overcoming obstacles requires developing perseverance and resilience—qualities I aim to cultivate in every student. With over 20 years working with learners across various backgrounds—including those with disabilities—I understand the importance of adaptability and empathy in fostering success.

When I'm not teaching—where I've been homeschooling my son for over three years—you can find me playing with my cat Bandana Waddle Dee or diving into creative projects that inspire fresh ideas for instruction tailored specifically toward neurodivergent and gifted students who crave deeper understanding.

Currently completing dual degrees in Computer Science (with a concentration in Cybersecurity) / Applied Mathematics from Towson University—which will be completed within 1.5 semesters—I’ve also volunteered at the Hussmann Center for Adults With Autism since 2021 while undergoing continuous training focused on supporting neurodivergent individuals through Kennedy Krieger Institute.

As professionals working together toward educational goals: let’s embrace this exciting journey filled with discovery where each learner's unique perspective holds immense value—transforming every subject into grand adventures uniquely tailored.
