Learn to craft your very own spool knitter out of common household items and create an adorable animal finger puppet! You do not need any prior experience crafting or knitting, just come ready to get creative! During this interactive workshop, we will demonstrate live step-by-step instruction that will allow for questions to be asked and for us to check-in to make sure everyone is successful. The students will learn to craft their own knitting spool and create an animal-inspired finger puppet. They will be able to follow step by step verbal and visual instructions. The students will be able to get creative in the finger puppet designs in this class as well as after this class.
Julia has been an integral part of The Handwork Studio for the past 15 years. With a BFA in Fine Arts from Green Mountain College, she has dedicated her work to bringing textile and craft, robotics, design and build, fashion, and technical theatre education to kids through camps, workshops, and classes. As our Executive Camp Director, Julia leads our staff of skilled instructors to run our award-winning summer program both in-person and online that reaches thousands of kids each summer.
Toilet paper tube or paper towel tube Scissors Writing utensil 1yd+ of yarn or string (cut up plastic bags) 5 popsicle sticks (straws, pencils) tape, hot glue or rubber bands glue Scrap fabric or felt

If the student uses a hot glue gun, a parent should help them glue the popsicle sticks on to the tube or attach their animal embellishments. Some students might have some difficulty setting up the yarn/string in the spool. The instructor will make sure to repeat the setup steps several times and will answer your question in real-time.
