課堂經歷
In this class students will spell words provided by the teacher that will vary each time this course is scheduled. We will count the syllables before spelling each word that helps with pronouncing and visualizing how words are spelled. Spelling well is an important skill to have and good to continue to improve on. The words that will be used were obtained from a list of 6th grade spelling words. We will use auditory, visual and social techniques to learn as a group. We will practice and spell together also individually (everyone can always take part on chat when taking turns by messaging the teacher the spelling of each word). Your child can be in a different grade and still take part in this class.

The goal is to provide an environment were students feel comfortable to spell and learn together. Each student will spell words they are familiar with and/or new words. Seeing and hearing helps encourage our memory to visualize and memorize how words are spelled correctly. This course also teaches great group work by taking turns, practicing patience and helping each other. I encourage every child to spell each word and take notes.

Optional: Paper and pencil to write down the words that can help some kids more with their spelling process. Also, for taking notes of words to review after the course.

I currently teach grade school and middle school English/spelling to my children who I homeschool. I look forward to sharing with you the fundamentals that I've experienced that have worked the best with young students in learning spelling. I'm offering this class because it's important to understand the concept of how to count syllables and how to spell. It's interesting learning about spelling rules that helps to spell words correctly. I found that when more than one technique is used in teaching it makes it easier to understand, learn and retain the information. Learning tips on how to spell and understanding the meaning or reason of it will help strengthen skills that can be applied to more complex words making easier when it comes to spelling.評論
