This is a retelling of the legend of Saint Valentine in simple Spanish, made by teachers and taught by a professional certified and native Spanish teacher. We will use more than 90 Spanish frequently used words. 

About the class:
This is a retelling of the legend of Saint Valentine in simple Spanish. It will work with Spanish 1 students (with some scaffolding and pre-teaching of vocabulary) and Spanish 2 students.

There are several versions of the Legend of Saint Valentine. In this retelling, the Roman emperor decrees that soldiers cannot get married, so Saint Valentine performs weddings in secret. The emperor finds out and arrests Valentine. In jail, Valentine becomes friends with the jailor's daughter, Julia, who is blind. Valentine teaches Julia math, history, literature, music, and religion. Before Valentine is executed, he writes a letter to Julia. When Julia opens the letter, she is healed of her blindness. Julia never forgets Valentine.

This story uses 94 unique words in Spanish. 

This class is ESL Friendly. Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. (CEFR: all levels) Class is appropriate for CEFR: A1, A2, B1, B2 C1, C2.
