As Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) approaches, it's the perfect opportunity for students to learn festive Spanish vocabulary and color paper sugar skulls - also known as calaveras de azúcar. The tradition of decorating sugar skulls has been popular throughout Mexico for centuries and gives Mexican families and friends an opportunity to spend time decorating their homes and communities together. Now it's your child's turn to participate in Día de los Muertos and decorate their own paper sugar skulls that they can hang in their bedrooms, playrooms, or even the front door! Students can look forward to new learning Spanish vocabulary that's related to Día de los Muertos through an interactive, visual approach. Next, they will be introduced to examples of completed sugar skull colorings. The instructor will send a few sugar skull coloring sheets in advance so students can choose which one they'd like to complete during class. Afterward, students will take out their crayons, markers, or colored pencils and begin working alongside their classmates and instructor to color and chat! Finally, students will present their artwork to their classmates and review all that they learned throughout class. *NOTE: To honor the backgrounds and ages of students, the religious history of Día de los Muertos will not be presented in this class.* Adult supervision is required because students will be using scissors.

**Marie Rojas**
Marie is a Mexican-American bilingual educator who has taught in Illinois public schools for the past 12 years. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and is licensed to teach Spanish as a Second Language, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Bilingual Education to students in grades K-12th. While Marie enjoys working with students of all ages, she's especially passionate about teaching languages, literacy, and culture to those in early elementary grades. She loves to incorporate her Hispanic heritage, family traditions, foods, music, and festivals into her Spanish language and culture classes, as she has a lifetime of experience to share!
**Gail Encerrado**
Gail is an incredibly talented English-Spanish bilingual teacher who lives in El Paso, Texas. She has had over 20 years of experience teaching a variety of subjects to children and adults, including: ESL, Spanish, reading, writing, math, GED prep, ABA, and most recently - cooking! Gail's strong connection to her Mexican heritage, curiosity of diverse cultures, and love for learning, are apparent in all of her lessons, making her lessons especially unique. She has a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics from the University of Texas, and is currently studying for a Master's degree in Education. She has taught in a variety of educational settings, with the majority of her experience being in instructional and program administration positions at the community college level.
**Maria Wright: English & Spanish Teacher**
Maria is a Spanish-English bilingual teacher who is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has a B.A. in Psychology from Florida International University, K-6 bilingual and ESOL teaching licenses, and a TESOL teaching certificate from the TESOL International Association. Maria has over 20 years of experience teaching children between the ages of 3-17 and brings a wealth of knowledge, creativity, and experience into her classes. She spent 16 years in public and private school classrooms teaching reading, writing, math, science, and social studies in a bilingual capacity, until moving into the world of online language education in 2017. 評論
