課堂經歷
In this four week course we will discover how humans explore space. We will examine the history of exploration, the technologies used, and discuss some of the motivations and challenges behind it. Students will be introduced to topics such as how telescopes and rockets work, what happens to the human body in microgravity, what current and past robotic missions have explored our solar system, and what kinds of theoretical forms of space travel might be developed. This is a highly interactive course. Students will learn through an image and video filled presentation and discussion. Students’ participation and questions are regularly encouraged. This course is perfect for the young space enthusiast who wants to deepen and expand their knowledge of Space. However, no previous knowledge in the subject is required. Classes are designed to encourage student engagement and follow their curiosity. Class One: Telescopes and remote sensing Class Two: Robotic missions Class Three: Human space flight Class Four: Future missions There are no prerequisites for this class. While we will discuss some of the mathematics used in space studies, learners will not need to use math in this course, unless they would like to for “extra credit”.
