Dark, cold and whipped by supersonic winds, giant Neptune is the eighth and most distant major planet orbiting our Sun.
Lesson 16
The Planets: Pluto
Pluto is by far the most famous dwarf planet. Discovered by Clyde Tombaugh in 1930, Pluto was long considered our solar system's ninth planet. But after other astronomers found similar intriguing worlds deeper in the distant Kuiper Belt – the IAU reclassified Pluto as a dwarf planet in 2006.
  • Students will improve their understanding of gravity, our universe and solar system.
  • Students will be able to compare/contrast the life cycles of stars according to their size.
  • Students will be able to compare/contrast the planets in our solar system.
