課堂經歷
This ongoing writing course will focus on quick, short writing assignments (posts) to inspire learners to be excited about and more fluent with their ideas for writing. We will be writing in our own Blog - using Word Press's "Edublogs." Edublog is safe for students and has all the necessary safety certifications required by Outschool for an outside resource. (Please ask if you have questions about this.) Each student will have their own personalized blog, which will be attached to my principal blog. All of their posts will be approved by me before they are actually published in the blog. The learner's first class will be spent setting up their own personalized blog. (If this is not possible due to technical or other issues, the learner will use Google Docs anonymously). I will have prompts ready for them, but I find with blogging students are so excited they often already have ideas of their own. Then whoever feels comfortable will share their published pieces with the group. We will start each session with a mini lesson on strategies such as alliteration, description, Onomatopoeia, punctuation, and wordplay, among others. This is a fun way to write short pieces! Hello! I am MarySue Gulick. (Ms. MarySue for learners). My journey on Outschool has evolved into mainly one-on-one tutoring. I love taking math further with enrichment activities, and also take learners wherever they are developmentally and move them forward. I love language arts too, and will tutor both reading and writing upon request.
I had a Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education, with an Endorsement in Gifted Education. My Master's Degree is in Gifted Education from the University of Northern Colorado. My Bachelor's degree is in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. I taught in both Florida and Colorado for a total of 23 years.
The majority of my classroom teaching was in self-contained gifted classrooms, from first to fourth grades. I "retired" from teaching at the end of May, 2019. Now I'm enjoying sharing some lessons my students and I loved with learners on Outschool! My teaching philosophy is to make sure my content is engaging and fun for students, and they will learn!
Personally, my husband and I have been married since we were teenagers, we have two kids, and we now have two awesome grandkids. We love to camp in our motorhome named Margot, and we spend part of the summer in Northern Michigan, where we both grew up. I am looking forward to meeting your learner!評論
