During this Spanish Camp we will be using our favourite characters and music from the movies Frozen, The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, The Jungle Book, Cinderella, and 101 Dalmatians to help learn pronunciation, vocabulary, and memorization of Spanish! A detailed schedule of when each class is happening is provided below so students can complete all or simply choose their favourites. Each week students will embark on a new song with new vocabulary to learn. For extra practice, you can sign up for this camp in its twice/week version. 

We will start with introductions and get quickly into discussing our favourite characters through an interactive slide. We will then discuss briefly gender of nouns, including definite and indefinite articles. We will also learn how to spot a verb, as well as spend some time reading, discussing, and memorizing vocabulary with the use of a song from that particular class. Before we get into the music portion of class we will play a few interactive games together to solidify what we've learned. As a group we will all get opportunities to individually and communally practice by reading lyrics and performing. We will be speaking in English unless I am instructing them on a particular Spanish phrase, so there is no need for students to be far in their Spanish journey. Students will be more comfortable if they have some background in learning Spanish, however, a beginner level is fine. I don't recommend this class as a student's first introduction into the language as it is a lot of content for someone who's never seen Spanish words before. Through these ongoing classes we will become Disney Spanish Superstars as we travel from the Savannah of Africa to the Mountains of China! 

Teacher's role: As the teacher, I will guide the students through their vocabulary words with beautiful pictures to help their memory associate words with images, and teaching them how to pronounce words like a Spanish pro! I will provide students with a copy of the lyrics to the song to download and print, as well as a certificate upon completion of the Disney camp.

Expectations of students: Students should be able to read so they can use the lyrics of the song we will sing to practice their understanding of vocabulary and pronunciation. Students are also expected to participate in games, and if not comfortable with singing, at least participate in their section of the reading out loud. Students are also more than welcome to come to class dressed up as their favourite character!
