課堂經歷
Enter, if you dare! Short Horror Theatre is an ongoing class in which learners will watch different short horror films together each week. For every meeting I will ready a selection of short horror films and screenshare them to the class - this way, we are all reacting to the stories at once and can discuss them while they are still fresh in our minds. Half of the meeting will be taken by watching the shorts, and in between each story we will discuss them and share our opinions. I will lead the discussion by asking questions that will encourage learners to share their thoughts on the short films, the horror genre as a whole, and different ideas of fear. For each short film that we watch, we'll practice our media analysis and literacy by discussing topics like: -What fear does this story explore? -Horror conventions, tropes, and cliches -What would you do? -Did you find it scary, and why or why not? -The differences between independent filmmaking vs studio filmmaking This class is perfect for learners who are fans of the horror genre and want bite-sized stories to discuss with fellow fans. SCHEDULE: Week of November 4th: -'Don't Peek' by the channel Julian Terry -'Polaroid' by the channel Paul Houston -'Knock Knock' by the channel Sam Davison Week of November 11th: -'The Tall Man' by the channel Social House Films -'Cam Closer' by the channel Ponysmasher -'Pleasant Inn' by the channel David Romero* *Content Warning: Some blood, and gun usage. 父母的引導和規範
Because the short films are in the horror genre they will feature scary situations and creatures, and most likely 'jump scares'. I will strive to keep the short films within a PG-13 rating window. If any shorts have more graphic content that will be noted in the schedule.
All of the shorts are available for free on youtube via their creators. I encourage you to screen the shorts ahead of time, so that you may judge whether they are appropriate for your learner.

教師專業知識和證書
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, with a focus on literary and dramatic analysis. I have been a fan of horror stories my whole life and am very familiar with the genre, both in print and in film. I have previously worked as a private tutor leading book club/novel study classes for youths from ages 6-18, which is transferable experience to a discussion class like Short Horror Theatre.
