課堂經歷
In this one-time Science and Art class, young learners will have fun creating shadow puppets with their hands and learn science vocabulary on light and shadows. In a semi-dark room, we will shine a light on the wall. The teacher will model how to place hands in front of the light to create a shadow on the wall. Shadowgraphy (or Ombromanie) is the art of using hands to make figures onto a screen using shadows. It traces back to the18th Century, although the idea is probably much older. Shadow puppets of Indonesia were being performed around 850 AD and in China during the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907). Class Structure: 1) Greetings & introductions 2) Science behind light, shadows, and vocabulary words 3) Begin modeling today's puppets 4) Next, practice all together while making connections 5) Finally, discussion and review My Class Rules: We share kindness and respect in every class. Kindness = Aloha Respect = Ho'ihi Bonus: Your child will have a little Hawaiian cultural insight as they gain mastery and confidence in writing essays. I will use a little native Hawaiian language (ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi) in all my classes.

I'm so pleased to be here at Outschool. I'm Auntie Sandra and I live in Hawaii where I have been raised my entire life. I hold teaching and inspiring learners very close to my heart. Learning best takes place through curiosity, personal interest, and having a teacher that cares. Teaching is truly my passion.

I continually take professional development because I believe learning is ongoing. I have learned so much through my +30 experience working with families, babies, preschool, children, teens, and young adults in a wide capacity of occupations.
Hawai'i is my home and my heart. Being raised with a rich culture and loving community is a special part of who I am. I wish to share this with all those around me, especially you!
My nine children, their spouses, and four grandsons can attest that I am a woman passionate about kids. I love hula, culture, family/friend time, Polynesian dances/crafts, hiking, camping, the ocean and music, coffee, flowers, and traveling. As a lifelong learner, I hope to inspire, educate and nurture others through subjects that are my personal favorites.
