In this course, students will learn about the American Society of Civil Engineers' list of structures around the world that changed the world historically. These are considered the greatest civil engineering achievements of the 20th century. This lecture is part of one I give to my college-level art history course. When considering architecture it's easy to get stuck on buildings and homes and these are truly architectural marvels that are both functional but also designed to be aesthetically pleasing. Allowing students of all ages to take a closer look at these buildings lets them see the historic connection and to connect subjects cross-disciplinary between history, art, science and engineering.
