Many people are fascinated by serial killers. They are compelling because they are different from the "rest of us", yet they live among us. In this class, we will take a psychological approach to understanding serial killers. We will study one psychological theory and one serial killer case each lesson. By learning about theories and research in-depth, learners will gain "building blocks" in order to critically analyze cases. There are five pre-recorded lessons in this class. Lesson #1: Happy Face Serial Killer (Keith Jesperson) Lesson #2: Chessboard Serial Killer (Alexander Pichushkin) Lesson #3: Eyeball Serial Killer (Charles Albright) Lesson #4: Ed Kemper Lesson #5: Ed Gein

This class focuses on criminal behavior. I will focus on the psychology behind why people commit crimes, but I will not focus on specific details of the crimes. For example, we will discuss factual details about the cases, but I will not show graphic details of the crime. My focus is on the psychological research on what makes a person commit a specific crime.
