Learning to read first starts with learning the alphabetic "code". This code means that each written letter represents a letter sound, and once we crack this code, we are ready to start reading! This class specifically targets the skills needed for reading, but in a fun way. All of the activities will be easy to use at home. This class welcomes children with some, little or no alphabetic knowledge. This means it would be suitable for a young learner who is just starting their reading...

Students will be introduced to all 26 letters of the alphabet, including their phoneme (letter sound) and grapheme (printed letter). By the end of this class, students will be beginning to blend and segment 2 or 3 letters, which is the foundation for reading and spelling.
In addition to my primary/junior teaching qualifications, I have also completed the following certificate programs related to reading instruction: - Overcoming Dyslexia, Yale University - Basics of Decoding and Spelling, International Dyslexia Association - Acadience Reading K-6
