課堂經歷
During this hands-on science class, students will follow along to the steps of a scrumptious science experiment in order to make their very own homemade ice cream! We will briefly discuss the scientific method, units of measurement, and states of matter. These concepts will be explained using simple explanations and songs, which will benefit the younger audience. No previous knowledge required! Students will become engaged in the activity by following along and measuring their own ingredients, drawing their predictions, following the appropriate directions to make their ice cream, and drawing their conclusions. Students will also review the three states of matter, and share which states of matter were observed during our experiment. Each step of the activity will be modeled for students. They will be given time to follow along after the teacher has modeled each step for them. Students will be able to share their predictions and observations throughout the activity.

Students will learn how to follow a recipe and properly measure ingredients.
Students will gain a better understanding of the three states of matter.
Students will practice following directions and sharing their thoughts and ideas with others.

Measuring Supplies: 1/2 Cup or 1 Cup 1/3 Cup Teaspoon Tablespoon Ingredients (Students will measure out their ingredients during class. Measurements are provided so that you can ensure you have enough for class): Milk or Half and Half (1/2 cup) Vanilla Extract (1/4 tsp) Sugar (1 tbsp) Ice (3 cups) Salt: Kosher, Rock, or Table Salt (1/3 cup) Sprinkles, chocolate sauce, fruit (optional ice cream toppings) Other Materials: Gallon sized Ziplock bag Quart sized Ziplock bag Towel or Gloves Markers/Crayons Pencil or Pen Printer to print paper materials or Plain paper
