We will learn about six turtle species: Painted, box, musk, spotted, snapping, and wood turtle, including their habitats, range, diet, defenses, breeding habits, and conservation efforts. While learning about each species, we'll also learn how to draw them, step-by-step, and use different types of line to embellish the shells, inspired by the patterns found in nature and in our imaginations. We'll also learn about invasive species, turtles as pets, and what really happened to "Peanut", the red-eared slider!

Identify different turtle species, draw a turtle using basic lines and shapes, understand the difference between habitat and range, and learn ways to conserve habitat and protect turtles.

You will need white paper 9"x9" pr larger, pencil, eraser, and markers or crayons, plus paper to take notes.
