課堂經歷

英語程度 - A1

Explore the rich and diverse world of Russian literature! Build your knowledge of the different themes, styles, and genres of Russian literature, and as well the historical and cultural context in which these works were written. Improve your ability to discuss and write about literature in an effective and powerful way.

This 8 week, semester course will explore the interesting world of modern Russian Literature. We will begin with early, classical pieces, and trace the development on this literature through the collapse of the Soviet Union. This course will explore the historical context for each piece within the Russia, as well as the literary features of the writings. We will read a variety of genres of writing from the most significant Russian writers of the 19th and 20th centuries. Students will be expected to read outside of class and actively participate in discussion. There will be writing assignments each week that students can submit for additional feedback and assessment. This class is perfect for literary lovers, history lovers, or anyone just curious about Russian history from the end of the tsarist era and into the Soviet era. Explore the unique worldview of Russia through its literature and culture.

This is a self-paced, flexible schedule version of my Russian Literature course. This course will offer no live class meetings. Instead, your student will have access to a class recording weekly to watch, as well as additional written and visual documents to augment the recording. The student will also have various quizzes and interactive assignments to check their understanding of the video content. This course will involve group brainstorming projects to be completed interactively, creating a workshop feel during the 8 weeks. Also each week, students will have an opportunity to complete their own longer writing assignments related to the class content and to receive individualized teacher feedback.

From a former student, "Russian Lit is still one of my favorite classes! Not to mention our AP courses. Your classes really prepared me well for college but also continued developing my critical thinking skills, world view, and love of learning."

What you can expect from this class:
-an appreciation for Russian literature
-an understanding of the historical context for key pieces
-an increased ability to use literary analysis in discussion
-improvement in your literary analysis writing skills
-instructor feedback to help you meet your goals
