Hello Outschool Families and thank you for checking out, 'The Road to Grammar." They call it basic grammar, but it sure can feel like anything but basic when you are trying to learn it, am I right? English grammar can be complex and difficult to understand, but I am here to help. This interactive class is jam packed with concepts: compound sentences, sentence structure, conjunctions, subject/verb agreements, punctuation, verb tense and much more! In this ongoing class your learner will study a new vocabulary and grammar concept two times per week in a way that engages and supports them in building a backpack full of literacy skills. Each session will include an interactive google slides where learners can help match, draw, dissect and write about the concept being taught. Learners will continuously be engaged with the concept as I plan each lesson around demonstration, prompt and individual practice. My teaching ideologies are best summed up by Benjamin Franklin: "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." As a current 5th grade teacher, I bring 10 years of grammar experience to each class, as well as the understanding of how each individual learns best. I am able to quickly adapt to a variety of learners and can adjust pacing depending on the classroom need! A few things to note: ❊This ongoing class is intended for 4/5/6 grade learners looking to sharpen up on their grammar skills ❊I also offer a similar grammar class at a 2nd-4th grade level ❊I also offer a similar grammar class at a middle school level ❊Learners should come with a pencil and paper ❊Occasionally an activity sheet may need to be printed for class (at least 24 hour notice will be given) ❊Please know that additional grammar concepts and dates are always being added as I think of new ideas and concepts that will benefit your learner. If at any point your learner will begin repeating concepts I will send a personal message so you are aware.
