Using IEW's Writing Structure and Style, this class will cover Unit 3, all Disney Parks themed! We will be using source texts on Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and Mickey's Phil-harmagic. Students will learn the important words to remember when taking notes, how to take notes properly and how to place those notes in an outline. Every outline must be tested verbally. Week 1Lesson 1All Aboard! Retelling the AdventureWe will be reading the narrative of Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railroad. We will use an outline, test it and rewrite in our own words.Week 2Lesson 2The Instruments AttackWe will retell the narrative of Donald's clash with an orchestra using our outline, test it and rewrite in our own words..Week 3Lesson 3Pixie Dust DeployedWe will be discussing dress-ups to make our writing more magical.
- Students will understand how to read a story, pick out key words, construct an outline using key words and rewrite the story from an outline. Students will practice using a variety of dress-ups such as -ly adverbs, who/which clauses, quality adjectives, strong verbs and clauses (www.asia.b).
