代數的現實世界應用：我什麼時候會在現實生活中使用它？

In this weekly class, learners will work with the real-world applications of Algebra. Often, students memorize the basic tenets of algebra but have great difficulty with word problems because of a lack of deeper understanding. Each week in this class we will explore actual life situations where Algebra concepts can be utilized.  My classes will contain scaffolded modeling, guided practice,  use of slides and perhaps a few video clips.  Homework will be available for interested students but it will not be mandatory. If students complete homework, I will be happy to correct it and provide proper feedback.  An understanding of basic Algebra 1 concepts would be beneficial but I will happily differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners. I plan to have a fun game or Algebra puzzle at the end of each week's class.  
The breakdown for the curriculum is:
 *"Money Matters" investments, compounded interest, sales tax, discounts and coupons, best price decisions
 *"People Everywhere" population situations and a look at the social sciences and Algebra 
 *"Science Fun" using Algebra in Chemistry and Physics labs and equations 
 *"Leisure Fun" sports and statistical data, mean,median, mode 
 *"Lines Can Be Your Friends" linear equations regarding relationships of two variables (income over time, mileage rate, profits), graphing, system of equations  
"Traveling On" distance equations, temperature conversions
