課堂經歷
We will explore the time period of 4 beloved Disney princesses to see what Disney kept true to history and where they took artistic license. Students will "visit" a different princess' time period and home land each day. We will discuss how clothing, homes, and the princesses' lifestyles might have been different than what was portrayed in their movies. Moana, Merida, Belle, and Jasmine will each be featured and have their own section's worth of information. This class will use discussion, mixed media, and teacher lead comprehension checks all together to create an engaging and enlightening environment. Students will engage in discussion sharing their thoughts about the material and opinions when it comes to Disney Princesses. I love a good discussion! I think that discussion allows students to immediately use their new information which helps them to retain it. Students will get to enjoy a presentation from me which includes pictures and some videos. Students will not need to have any previous knowledge about the time period or the "true story" of the time period where each of the princesses would have lived. Day 1: We will discuss Moana. We will learn about how Disney developed the story of Moana and her home island. Students will come to know more about a princess that would have lived more than 3,000 years ago. Day 2: We will discuss Merida today. Students will learn what Disney used from actual history and geography to make this story. Day 3: We will discuss Belle from Beauty and the Beast today. Students will learn more about how the clothes would have been different if Belle would have actually lived during this time. They will come to understand how Disney developed an 1700's fairy tale into a beloved story. Day 4: We will discuss Jasmine today. We will look how her clothes and life would have been different if she actually would have lived during this time period.

Craft links will be left at the end of each section in the classroom. Students can choose whether to complete them or not. Most of the crafts use items from around the house: colored paper (black, purple, light blue, blue, yellow, red, two shades of green) glue gun tape glue or gluestick 3 toilet paper rolls Scissors Googly eyes (6) Tissue paper (red) Green pipe cleaners Clear plastic cups I will also be listing a recipe for cookies one night: • unsalted butter, room temperature • white sugar • 1 large egg, room temperature • vanilla extract • all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling • baking powder • salt • Green food coloring • Teal food coloring

I have over 14 years of education experience working with students anywhere from preschool age to college aged students. I worked with large groups in private and public school classrooms and smaller groups in our church's student and youth ministry. My Bachelor's in Elementary Education and 8 years of home educating my own children has helped me to learn the importance of a good education. Students can go anywhere given the right tools. I believe education should prepare students to become life long learners knowing how to research and formulate their own opinions and decisions as well educated adults. I am excited to bring my love of reading and quality literature to a digital classroom to help your students engage in a new way with books! Travel is a passion of mine as well. So much about our world can be learned through travel so I would love to take your students around our country digitally. If your student is looking for a creative outlet, I have some great craft classes and entry level life skill classes that can let them dip their toes into new hobbies. As a home school mom of four kids, if I am not leading class time in my own home or reading a book for myself, I am planning a trip! We love to RV and travel in the local southeastern part of the USA. We are avid Disney fans who are always planning our next Walt Disney World Trip. Along with our four children who are within 5 years of each other, we have two cats and two dogs which adds to the overall zoo environment.
