Students will improve their reading fluency skills, as well demonstrate effective critical thinking and reading comprehension skills.  I will use fiction and non fiction passages to enable students to feel confident tackling school and test materials.  Common spelling patterns, unique sounds and letter combinations and techniques for determining the correct answers will be part of each class.  Students will practice timed reading to assist their standardized test taking skills that is necessary for grade promotion and confidence building.  This class benefits native as well as ELL students. 

I have 16 years of experience teaching reading based on my experience as a Kindergarten teacher, preschool assistant and preschool director, middle and high school educator and in teaching my own children to read.  My Master's degree in Education with a Reading Concentration trained me in the Science of Reading before it became a trendy theme.  I am TESOL certified from my previous online tutoring experience where I taught ELL students for two years.
