This course will teach reading comprehension skills, and decoding skills if needed, to 3rd graders. Students work one-one-one with a licensed reading interventionist teacher so they will make fast progress. We will read fiction and nonfiction passages and learn strategies for answering questions about them. Students will be answering multiple choice and free response questions that are aligned with Common Core Standards. A particular focus will be on how to use evidence in the text to support answers. We will also work on vocabulary skills to aid students' comprehension as well. We will use cloze activities to learn and practice new vocabulary words. This course will help students with their reading in general, but is also useful for preparation for standardized testing.

Each week will focus on the student's individual needs as determined by their work from the previous week.
