This is a five-day reading comprehension course for students with a third-grade reading level. Each session is one hour long and will cover one Just for Fun Reading story, comprehension questions, vocabulary activity, and a writing response activity. The writing response activity is completed as an assignment outside of classroom time. When the writing response activity is completed, the student will turn-in to receive teacher feedback on their work. Activities for each session: 1. Before...
1. Students will improve reading comprehension skills by participating in guided reading activities to answer comprehension questions focused on the use of cause and effect, making personal connections, sequencing events, and identifying main ideas and details. 2. Students will identify new vocabulary by completing word study activities at the beginning of each session. 3. Students will complete writing response activities that reflect their understanding of the main characters, the plot of each story, and how problems or situations were resolved.
