Important Note: CEFR: all levels #superstar Safety First: Learner shall be cleared by his/her Physician to engage in the physical practice of Yoga. By registering Learner in this class, Guardian/Parent(s) acknowledge(s) they understand there are always risks in any physical program, assume(s) all risks, and waive(s) any rights to file any claim against the instructor in regards to Learner's participation in class. In all of my Yoga classes, proprioception and interoception will be further explored and cultivated. In this Yoga class for adolescents on the autism spectrum disorder or neurodiverse in other ways, they will learn yogic techniques, such as poses, breathing control exercises and meditation that will help them better understand themselves, increase awareness both in the body and mind/emotions, and so be able to self-regulate to manage stress. The class is structured as a kind, calm space, where the whole person is met. The Teacher will follow the Learner's cues for timing and selection to be covered, including modulating the environment (eye and voice contact, space will be plain, lightning will be medium-soothing, depending on the students' needs, music may or may not be introduced). Class will start and end the same way each time, and language will be literal. Learner's preferences and/or willingness to participate are respected, all within an environment that is gentle and supportive. Class will be based on each Learner's fluid needs (thus the semi-private size of up to 2 students only). Class is a cheerful, positive, balancing/enriching, a safe zone for your teenager to explore and experience his/her own ability to create wellbeing at all levels, resulting in a sense of stimulating self-growth and empowerment. The class is interactive, with explanations, demonstrations, and enriching and fun discussions. For these reasons and for gauging Learner's interest level and to be able to adjust accordingly, I require open mics and video in my classes so there is a sense of community and engagement with the material. Class may be repeated for wellbeing support as each class will pursue the same goal, but include different types of breathing exercises. There is no requirement for this class.
學習目標
In this mindful Yoga class, taught in the traditional, gentle-paced approach of synchronizing body/mind/breath, like fluid meditation, students will learn to become aware of how they are feeling, and select from a myriad of yogic techniques to manage stress and recover or maintain balance. This sense of wellbeing and being grounded, will serve as a platform from which Learners may then interact in a way that feels reassuring to them. They will also develop a wholesome body & mind discipline that is well known to support wellness and wellbeing at all levels. Each class will be unique, meeting the students' needs at the time, so Learner may re-enroll as many times as desired to learn even more poses, breathing techniques, and other yogic practices that promote this integrated wellbeing.
