課堂經歷

The class will begin with the teacher asking students what they know about rhyming words. The teacher will explain and show students that rhyming words are words that have the same ending sound. The teacher will give examples of words that rhyme and words that do not rhyme. The student will give a thumbs up sign when the words rhyme and a thumbs down when the words do not rhyme. The teach will then introduce the book Llama Llama Red Pajama. The teacher will explain that there a many rhyming words in this book. The teacher will ask students what makes words rhyme (they both have the same ending sound). The teacher will ask students to touch their nose each time they hear rhyming words in the story. The teacher will periodically have students identify rhyming words in text. To conclude the lesson, students will produce a word that rhymes with a word the teacher gives them.

學習目標

Students will improve understanding of rhyming words by listening to a story, identifying rhyming words within the text, and producing rhyming words on their own.

Emergent and young readers often have a difficult time with rhyming words. Identifying a rhyming word and producing a rhyming word are two different skills. I have 16 years experience with emergent and young readers. Rhyming is a phonological awareness skill and helps build the foundation for reading. This lesson is a fun, interactive way to not only identify rhyming words but produce rhyming words as well.
