In this one-session course, students will dive into the essentials of public health: What is epidemiology? Why was Covid-19 declared a pandemic? Who makes our public health decisions? What is community engagement and health equity? How does the climate impact public health? What is the difference between public health and global health? This class is structured to be interactive and engaging, combining lecture-style teaching with class discussion. There will be plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions and share ideas. This class will illustrate to students if public health is a possible academic field of interest -- and, if so, I offer a longer-form, more in-depth 12 week course on public health as well!

Viruses and disease are potentially sensitive topics. This course will not delve into personal stories. The course is fact- and science- based, and will center equity in all sub-topics.

Hello! I am a traveler, public health researcher, athlete and educator excited to teach your student on any of the following topics: chemistry, public health, medical anthropology, introductory weight lifting and exercise, and the daunting but exciting journey through the college application process!
I have two degrees, one in chemistry and the other in medical anthropology (Feel free to ask me what medical anthropology is!!). I currently do public health research at a university, studying infectious diseases and health policy in the US.
