課堂經歷
It's often said that bad examples are the best teaching tools, and this is especially true for writing students. In this ongoing class, students will read examples of "bad" writing and then put their writing and critical thinking skills to the test to turn an error-filled sample into a better piece of writing. Students will learn how to proofread a piece of writing for tone, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and clarity. Students will then put these edits into practice to rewrite a grammatically correct and tonally consistent piece of writing based on the model. If time allows, students will then brainstorm how to make creative changes, including changes to genre, setting, character description, and more! Learners will receive a PDF of the sample piece of "bad" writing the day before each class. Students should bring a printed copy or a digital copy (with a PDF editor or equivalent program) to class. They will use this to practice editing and proofreading annotations. Weekly meeting topics will alternate between fiction and nonfiction editing. I will post a PDF copy of the example the day before each week's scheduled class meeting. Upcoming Meeting Schedule Week of 9/1: Fiction Example Week of 9/8: Nonfiction Example Week of 9/15: Fiction Example Week of 9/22: Nonfiction Example

教師專業知識和證書
I am a professional academic and creative writing editor. I have worked on college admissions boards vetting application essays, edited papers for graduate and post-graduate researchers, and have taught Bibliography and humanities research courses. I am a very thorough editor with an eye for correct grammar, tonal and colloquial accuracy (using the correct tone based on the writing task), and fact checking. I focus on teaching students how to effectively edit their own work rather than simply telling them what to change.
