Photoshop is a powerful tool that not only can be used to do amazing things with photos and other art, there are almost always two or more ways to accomplish your creative vision! It can be a very intimidating program to open and begin using and to grasp the scope of its many tools and features. This is a student-centered, one-on-one, on-going course to help you meet your Photoshop goals. Starting at the introductory level, or with your current skill set, I will design and provide lessons tailored to your specific needs and interests. I am an experienced professional photo editor who works with photographers all over the United States. I would love to help you gain the confidence and skills to create your own art, enhance and edit your own photos, or start your own photo editing business. Common tasks photo editors complete include but are not limited to: cropping, color adjustment, blemish removal, distraction removal, people/object removal, hair clean-up, face swaps, head swaps, body contouring, background adjustments, glasses glare removal. Below are the most frequently used tools I will help you to understand, have confidence using, and master: Class 1 - Tuesday, March 1 Layers - stack images on top of other images without interacting and mixing the pixels of images Class 2 - Tuesday, March 8 Move Tools - move part of a layered image to a new location Class 3 - Tuesday, March 15 Spot Healing Tool/Patch tool - remove blemishes from a photo, repair larger areas of an image, or get rid of any distractions Class 4 - Tuesday, March 22 Clone Stamp Tool - clone or copy image information from one area to another Class 5 - Tuesday, March 29 Color Enhancements/Adjustments - adjust the brightness and contrast of your images Class 6 - Tuesday, April 5 Cropping Tool and Content Aware - for cropping an image, removing background objects in an image Class 7 - Tuesday, April 12 Quick Selection Tool - makes a selection based on the edges of objects Class 8 - Tuesday, April 19 Patch Tool - patch selected content Marquee and Lasso Tools - make selections around anything on a layer

Welcome! I am so excited that you are here. My name is Kristen and I live in Richmond, VA, U.S.A. I received a Bachelors of Science degree from Virginia Tech and a Masters of Teaching degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. I currently hold a Virginia state teaching license for grades Pre K-6. I have 9 years experience teaching 3rd/4th grades in Virginia public schools. Prior to receiving my Masters degree, I taught and created curriculum for the Science Museum of Virginia. I also currently teach ESL through an online platform to children all over the world.
I firmly believe that children have an innate desire to learn and that they need many opportunities to explore their world in a safe and loving environment that is developmentally appropriate for them. I believe children learn by doing, making discoveries, forming connections, experimenting, and actively-engaging in experiences that are interest-driven and child-led. I believe that it is my role as educator to provide those types of opportunities for students; especially through an online platform!
I stepped away from teaching in the classroom once I started my family. I am now the mom to three sweet boys ages: 6, 4, and 1. We love going hiking, spending time in the Chesapeake Bay and the Outer Banks, going on daily walks, and Friday night pizza parties.
I understand how maintaining social interactions, and continuing exposure to new ideas and activities is a priority for parents. Outschool is a great place to start! My children take weekly classes from a variety of teachers. It has been a wonderful and rewarding experience for them.
