In this class the student will learn the fundamentals of playing the flute. Week 1: We will begin with tone production, balance and positioning of the instrument, where to place the fingers, reading a fingering chart. Week 2: We will work on how to manage the air when blowing and changing between notes. Week 3: We will begin work on articulation (tonguing and slurring). The student will learn the fundamentals of flute playing and apply them to fun songs on the flute. We will cover fundamentals such as tone, dynamics, rhythms, note reading, fingerings, and articulation. Each week we will review previous concepts and songs learned and build on these skills.
The student must have a properly working flute, a method book, a mirror, and a note book. The student and parent will be notified of any other materials as the need arises.
