In this ongoing class, we will meet 3x a week for a group circle time. Every week we will have a new summer theme! Each class will have a variety of greetings, songs, early math and literacy concept practice, mini games and discussion opportunities. In class we will begin with a greeting song, followed by a quick sharing opportunity to build community in our class. Next, we'll introduce the weekly theme. Mondays will be focused on early literacy activities such as letter recognition, letter...
Students will develop group time skills such as turn-taking, questioning and answering, and focusing attention. Students will be able to sing along and participate in a group activity or game. Students will develop letter recognition and understanding of letter-sound correlation. Students will develop number recognition, sequencing, sorting, patterning, shapes, colors and simple addition/subtraction skills.
Helpful tools to have on hand for this class include: blank paper and writing materials (pencil, crayons/colored pencils/markers) OR a whiteboard and markers.
