In this ONGOING Preschool / Pre-K class, learners will get ready for Kindergarten by learning & reviewing the alphabet, letter sounds, colors, shapes, the calendar (days/months), early math-numbers 1-20, basic math skills, and so much more! 📚✏️ This is a jam-packed class of learning!! ** This class is ESL/ENL friendly and all learners are welcome. This class is also a great option to add to your homeschool week! ***This is an ongoing class, so your learner can join any week, and you may cancel at any time. ***Please note that this class runs on a 16-week cycle and will begin on Week 1 after the 16th week. 

🔠🔢🌈📆☀️Class Structure:

-Welcome to all learners
-Daily Check-In 
- "7 Days" Song/"Days of the Week" Song (discuss day)
- 'Months of the Year' Song- (discuss month & year)
- "What is the Weather" song- discuss weather in learner's area
- Letter, color, shape/number/or positional or directional words activity... (varies throughout the 3-day weekly meetings- SEE WEEKLY/DAILY TOPICS BELOW)

***AFTER each class, several worksheets 🗒️✏️that go along with that day's topics will be available, for extra practice at home (these worksheets can be found on our class page). These worksheets are NOT needed during class. 

***Parents & Guardians may want to provide their learner with either a dry erase board, marker, and eraser (or paper and pencil / markers) in case their learner would like to write or draw during class.

📚📚 Classes will take place 3x a week for 45 minutes and follow the schedule below:

16-Week Cycle:

🖍Week of January 7th: Letters A, B, & C, color red, circle, numbers 1,2,3, & positional words
🖍Week of January 14th: Letters D, E, F, color orange, oval, numbers 4, 5, positional words
🖍Week of January 21st: Letters G, H, I, color yellow, heart, numbers 6, 7, positional words
🖍Week of January 28th: Letters J, K, L, color green, triangle, numbers 8, 9, positional words
🖍Week of February 4th: Letters M, N, O, color blue, square, numbers 10, 11
🖍Week of February 11th: Letters P, Q, R, color purple, rectangle, numbers 12, 13, positional words
🖍Week of February 18th: Letters S, T, U, color pink, rhombus, numbers 14, 15, positional words
🖍Week of February 25th: Letters V, W, X, color brown, trapezoid, numbers 16, 17
🖍Week of March 3rd: CVC middle sounds (a), color white, star, numbers 18, 19
🖍Week of March 10th :CVC middle sounds (e), color black, pentagon, number 20, directional words
🖍Week of March 17th: CVC middle sounds (i), color red, hexagon, picture sequencing, directional words
🖍Week of March 24th: CVC middle sounds (o), color orange, octagon, picture sequencing, domino addition
🖍Week of March 31st: CVC middle sounds (u), color yellow, 2-D shape review, picture sequencing, domino addition
🖍Week April 7th: CVC ending sounds, color green, 2-D shape review, picture sequencing, Who's Hiding? (zoo)
🖍Week of April 14th: CVC ending sounds, color blue, 2-D shape review, Who's Hiding? (in the barn), domino addition
🖍Week of April 21: animal sorting, sight words (big, blue, down, funny, go, jump), Who/What is hiding? (community helpers, vehicles, in your backpack)

Learners will practice:
-identifying colors and providing examples of objects of those colors
-differentiating letters from numerals
-understanding the relationship between numbers & quantities to 10 (cardinal counting)
-answering counting questions using up to 10 objects arranged in different ways
-exploring addition using visuals, objects, or fingers
-sorting 2-D objects into categories
-naming shapes and -observing characteristics (of each shape)
-recognizing and naming some upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet
-participating in small groups (for singing and other class activities)
-listening to follow simple directions
-using gestures & speaking to communicate
-understanding the concept of time measurement (days, weeks, months)
-attempting to use new vocabulary
-understanding & following spoken directions

Learners will begin to:
-print many upper and lowercase letters
-use frequently occurring prepositions (in, on, behind, under....)
-isolate and pronounce initial sounds (phonemes) in 1 syllable words (example: /c/ in cat)
-demonstrate one-to-one letter sound correspondence (example: c-a-t)
-identify numbers to 20/count to 20
-represent a number of objects to 20

Hello! I am a Special Education teacher with more than 19 years of experience, teaching students from ages 2-16, in a variety of settings, including 3 years of online teaching. I hold a Master's Degree in Special Education, grades Kindergarten - High School, and a TESOL-120 hour certificate. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, with a minor in Psychology.
