DAY 1: ARCTIC: Don't forget to bring the ingredients for the snack that we will make together! * "Good Morning/Introduction" song (SOUND) * Introduce the 5 senses with song: "We've got Five Senses!" Song (SOUND) * Polar Bear's Snack: (SIGHT, SOUND, TASTE, SMELL, TOUCH) Make a yummy polar bear's snack! * Literacy: (SIGHT, SOUND) Read: Arctic themed book! Interactive movement to music using call/response. * Discovery zone: (SIGHT, SOUND, TOUCH) Penguins - learners will see/hear video/sound/ photos of penguins and learn facts about them! * Show & Tell:(SIGHT, SOUND, TOUCH) Learners can share with the class their ANTARCTICA themed item. * Goodbye Song (SOUND) This class will be a very interactive class where the learners will continuously be engaging with me and other learners in the class. I consistently will be asking critical thinking questions of the learners that will encourage them to think beyond "yes" and "no". I will encourage learners to ask each other questions as well to foster creating a connection. I love to connect with my learners by pointing out something special about each one during their introductions as I have found that it helps connect myself and the other learners to each individual learner. (ex: "I notice that Tonya has a green barrette in her hair today! Does anyone else have something special in their hair today?) In addition to my creativity and imagination, I will utilize children's literature, music, song, basic art supplies and slides to support learning in the classroom. I will consistently ask questions of my learners to keep them engaged and focused on what is happening in the classroom. I am consistently encouraging learners to ask questions of each other as well to learn more about each other. I will give time in the classroom during transitions for learners to check in with one another if they want to...just as they would in a brick and mortar classroom. Learners can anticipate interacting with myself and other learners in the classroom throughout the whole camp day, sharing out, singing, pretending and playing while learning about winter wonderlands! There is no previous classroom experience required for this class.

Parents may want to stay close to learner during class in case there are technological issues.
Learners will not be cooking anything for snack in this class - only bringing snacks to eat together in class.

*All supplies for snacks and art projects will be posted to classroom page and accessible after enrolling in class.
*All items are optional but are intentionally planned to support learning by using all of our 5 senses in the classroom!
*PLEASE NOTE: If there are just 1 or 2 learners, I usually end class a little early as my Preschool Explorer classes are intended for 3 learners which typically takes the full 45 minutes whereas just 1 or 2 learners typically do not require the full time of class.
