This course is meant to cover all major standards of Pre-Algebra. Whether your student needs a full curriculum, extra support on a given topic, or just wants to supplement their current curriculum, this course will be of great help to them! I will utilize the I do, We do, You do method of teaching. First I will do and explain a problem(s), we will do a problem(s) together, and then the students will practice problems on their own while I check for their understanding. During practice time, students may work together, some students (voluntarily) may be asked to "tutor" or "teach" other students or the whole class to apply the final depth of knowledge, and/or receive 1-on-1 assistance with me in a break-out room. This class will be taught 2 day's per week to allow for sufficient concept building, practice, and to cover the breadth of the full course. Because it is Ongoing, you will have the ability to pay on a weekly basis and/or only for the weeks you deem necessary for your student! Students will receive guided notes and worksheets in the classroom every Monday that correspond to each weeks lesson. Class Structure: 5 mins- Review 15 mins- Instruction 15 mins- Practice (Opportunity for break-out groups and/or 1-on-1 assistance) Schedule: Week 1: January 2-6: Classifying Real Numbers Week 2: January 9-13: Rational & Irrational Numbers Week 3: January 16-20: Converting Fractions Into Decimals & Vise Versa Week 4: January 23-27: Square Roots & Cube Roots & Comparing Real Numbers Week 5: Jan. 30- Feb. 3: Scientific Notation Conversions & Adding and Subtracting Scientific Notation Week 6: Feb. 6- 10: Multiplying & Dividing Scientific Notation & SN Activity Week 7: Feb. 13-17: Simple Equations & Variables on Both Sides Week 8: Feb. 20-24: Like Terms, Distributive Property & Multistep Equations Week 9: Feb. 27- March 3: Solving & Graphing Inequalities Week 10: March 6-10: Number of Solutions & Intercepts Week 11: March 13-17: Intercepts & Types of Slope Week 12: March 20-24: Slope Equations & Graph Week 13: March 27- 31: Writing Equations of a Graph Week 14: April 3-7: Writing Equations from 2 Points Week 15: April 10-14: Number of Solutions Week 16: April 17-21: Systems by Graphing Week 17: April 24-28: Systems by Substitution Week 18: May 1-5: Systems by Elimination Week 19: May 8-12: Intro to Functions Week 20: May 15-19: Function Notation Week 21: May 22-26: Linear vs. Non-Linear Week 22: May 29- June 2: Angle Relationships Week 23: June 5-9: Triangle Theorem's Week 24: June 12-16: Pythagorean Theorem Week 25: June 19-23: Distance Week 26: June 26-30: Volume
